CRB1 (Crumbs homolog 1)는 망막의 광수용체 형태형성에 관여하며, 세포 극성 및 부착 유지에 중요한 역할을 합니다. Drosophila crumbs 단백질과 유사하며, 포유류 광수용체의 내분절에 위치합니다. 인간에서 발견된 첫 번째 homolog인 CRB1은 망막 및 일부 뇌 부위에서 발현되며, 상피 조직에서 또 다른 homolog가 기능할 가능성이 있습니다.
이 유전자의 돌연변이는 심각한 형태의 망막색소변성증(RP12) 및 Leber 선천성 흑암증과 관련되어 있습니다.
