Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Spectrin is an actin crosslinking and molecular scaffold protein that links the plasma membrane to the actin cytoskeleton. It plays a role in determining cell shape, organizing transmembrane proteins, and maintaining organelle arrangement. The protein forms tetramers made of alpha-beta dimers in a head-to-head arrangement. Mutations in the SPTA1 gene are associated with hereditary red blood cell disorders such as elliptocytosis type 2, pyropoikilocytosis, and spherocytic hemolytic anemia.
