Replication protein A (RPA) is a single-stranded DNA-binding protein involved in numerous eukaryotic DNA processes including replication, repair, and recombination.
RPA Interacting Protein (RPA IP) acts as an adapter mediating RPA nuclear import, differing from typical importin proteins.
Multiple isoforms exist:
- Longest isoform: localized to the cytoplasm
- Isoform 2: sumoylated and located in the PML nuclear body
Isoform 2 may mediate RPA complex localization to the PML nuclear body, contributing to RPA function in DNA metabolism.
