Specificity: Reacts to the extracellular domain of human CD4.
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems are developed by cloning the specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select the best candidates for production.

Target Information
The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and serves as a co-receptor for HIV. CD4 is primarily expressed in a subset of T-lymphocytes (T helper cells), but may also be found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
At the tissue level, CD4 expression is detected in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and specific regions of the brain and gut. CD4 functions to initiate or augment early T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and protein tyrosine kinase Lck. It may also mediate neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
