Target Information
ATF5 is a protein coding gene and transcription factor that can stimulate or repress gene transcription through binding of various DNA regulatory elements such as cAMP response element (CRE), ATF5-specific response element (ARE), and amino acid response element (AARE). It plays critical roles in cell survival, proliferation, and differentiation, particularly in cerebral cortical neuroprogenitor cells.
ATF5 is involved in the regulation of cerebral cortex formation, olfactory sensory neuron survival, and osteogenic differentiation. It promotes cell proliferation and survival by inducing EGR1 expression synergistically with ELK1 and regulates anti-apoptotic pathways via BCL2 transcriptional activation.
Additionally, ATF5 cooperates with NR1I3/CAR for transcriptional activation of CYP2B6 in liver and acts as a cofactor of CEBPB to promote adipocyte differentiation. It also regulates centrosome dynamics in a centriole-age-dependent manner.
For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Not for resale without express authorization.
