Target Information

RPS6KB1 (p70S6K) is a serine/threonine kinase with two non-identical catalytic domains that phosphorylate the S6 ribosomal protein. It is mainly localized in the cytoplasm and plays a key role in growth factor-regulated cell proliferation, motility, immune response, and tissue repair. Acting downstream of PI3-kinase, its primary target is the S6 ribosomal protein, which promotes protein synthesis and cell growth. Overexpression and gene amplification of p70S6K have been observed in certain breast cancer cell lines.
