Target Information

E-Cadherin (epithelial cadherin) is a classical cadherin belonging to the calcium-dependent adhesion protein superfamily. It is a glycoprotein composed of five extracellular cadherin repeats, a transmembrane region, and a conserved cytoplasmic tail. Mutations in the CDH1 gene encoding E-Cadherin are associated with various cancers, including gastric, breast, colorectal, thyroid, and ovarian. Loss of E-Cadherin function contributes to cancer progression through increased proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. The ectodomain mediates bacterial adhesion, while the cytoplasmic domain is essential for internalization. E-Cadherin plays a crucial role in maintaining tissue architecture and integrity.
