Target Information
This gene encodes a member of the sorting nexin (SNX) family, which contains a phox (PX) domain involved in phosphoinositide binding and intracellular trafficking.
The SNX1 protein regulates the cell-surface expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and plays a role in sorting protease-activated receptor-1 from early endosomes to lysosomes.
It may form oligomeric complexes with other family members.
Three transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.
