Target Information

RAB21 is a small GTP-binding protein belonging to the Ras superfamily, involved in intracellular vesicular trafficking.

• In non-polarized Caco-2 cells, RAB21 localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-like region.
• In polarized cells, it localizes to apical vesicles.
• RAB21 associates with integrin subunits and mediates receptor entry via RAB5/RAB21 endosomes.
• The GTPase-activating protein p120RasGAP regulates cell motility by controlling integrin recycling to the plasma membrane through competition with RAB21 for binding sites on the alpha-tail of endocytosed integrin.
