Target Information
Stromelysin (MMP-11), a member of the matrix metalloproteinase family, exhibits broad substrate specificity and can degrade proteoglycan, fibronectin, laminin, casein, and the nonhelical region of collagen. The MMP-11 gene is expressed specifically in stromal cells surrounding invasive breast carcinomas and is localized to chromosome 22. Its expression is more prominent in malignant tumors compared to benign ones.
