Target Information
Androgen receptor (AR) coactivator ARA70, also known as NCOA4, RFG, or ELE1, is a co-activator that enhances androgen receptor activity. In human thyroid carcinomas, the Ret proto-oncogene fuses with ARA70 to form Ret/PTC3 through intrachromosomal inversion. ARA70 exists as two isoforms, ARA70a and ARA70b.
- ARA70a: Widely expressed, highest in testis and adipose tissues
- ARA70b: Expressed solely in testis
ARA70a can act as a ligand-enhanced co-activator of PPARγ in adipocytes and may be involved in prostate and ovarian carcinogenesis, mediating estrogen-androgen synergism.
