Target Information
PITX2는 RIEG/PITX homeobox 패밀리에 속하며, bicoid class의 homeodomain 단백질입니다. 이 단백질은 전사인자로 작용하여 procollagen lysyl hydroxylase 유전자 발현을 조절하고, somatotroph 및 lactotroph 세포의 최종 분화에 관여합니다. 또한 눈, 치아, 복부 기관의 발달에 중요한 역할을 하며, prolactin의 기저 및 호르몬 조절 활성에 관여하는 전사 조절인자로 작용합니다.
이 단백질의 돌연변이는 Axenfeld-Rieger 증후군, iridogoniodysgenesis 증후군, Peters anomaly의 산발적 사례와 관련이 있습니다. 다른 척추동물에서 유사 단백질은 배아 발달 중 좌우 비대칭 결정에 관여합니다.
