Description:
The eBioJM7A4 monoclonal antibody reacts with the IL-15 receptor alpha chain (IL-15Rα). IL-15 and IL-2 share overlapping but distinct biological effects, utilizing common IL-2Rβ and γ chains for signaling. IL-15Rα binds IL-15 with a 1,000-fold higher affinity than IL-2Rα binds IL-2. Three spliced IL-15Rα variants in humans all exhibit high-affinity IL-15 binding. The cytoplasmic domain of IL-15Rα is not required for signaling, indicating its primary role is high-affinity ligand binding. At high concentrations, IL-15 can signal via IL-2Rβ and IL-2Rγ without the α subunit.

Suitable for flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Pre-diluted and validated for flow cytometric staining of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.25 µg) per test in 100 µL final volume. Cell number per test: 10⁵–10⁸ cells (empirically determined).

Light Sensitivity:
PE-Cyanine7 tandem dye is light-sensitive; protect from exposure.

Cytokine receptor that binds IL-15 with high affinity, regulating T and NK cell activation and proliferation. Shares IL-2Rβ and IL-2Rγ subunits with IL-2 receptor. IL-15RA binds IL-15 independently and enhances cell proliferation and anti-apoptotic protein expression (Bcl-xL, Bcl-2).
