Target Information
CXCR2 is a receptor for interleukin-8 (IL-8), a potent neutrophil chemotactic factor and member of the GPCR family. Binding of IL-8 activates neutrophils via G-protein signaling, triggering a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger pathway.
The receptor binds IL-8, GRO/MGSA, and NAP-2 with high affinity and is expressed in various tissues. ESTs have been isolated from human placenta and thymus libraries.
