Target Information
The TNFRSF11B gene encodes a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. This protein acts as an osteoblast-secreted decoy receptor and a negative regulator of bone resorption. It specifically binds to osteoprotegerin ligand, both being key extracellular regulators of osteoclast development. Studies in mice suggest involvement in lymph-node organogenesis and vascular calcification. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been reported.
