The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum using epitope-specific immunogen. Purity is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.

Target Information

The ubiquitin (Ub) pathway involves three sequential enzymatic steps that facilitate the conjugation of Ub and Ub-like molecules to specific protein substrates:

1. Activation: ATP-dependent activation of the Ub C-terminus by the Ub-activating enzyme (E1).
2. Conjugation: Formation of a Ub-E2 complex via the Ub-conjugating enzyme (E2).
3. Ligation: Transfer of Ub from E2 to the appropriate protein substrate catalyzed by the Ub-ligase (E3).

UBE2U (ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme E2U) is a 321 amino acid E2 enzyme that catalyzes covalent attachment of ubiquitin to other proteins. It exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms and is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 1, which spans approximately 260 million base pairs, contains over 3,000 genes, and comprises nearly 8% of the human genome.
