Target Information
MAP2K4 (MEK4, MKK4) is a serine/threonine kinase of the STE7 family that phosphorylates and activates JNK1/2 and p38. It preferentially phosphorylates the tyrosine residue of JNKs and mediates cellular stress and inflammatory cytokine responses.
MAP2K4 is implicated in carcinogenesis; loss-of-function mutations have been found in lung and pancreatic tumors, while pro-oncogenic roles are also reported.
