Target Information
The IL-19 protein is a cytokine belonging to the IL-10 cytokine subfamily, preferentially expressed in monocytes. It binds to the IL-20 receptor complex and activates STAT3 signaling. In mice, a similar cytokine up-regulates IL-6 and TNF-alpha expression and induces apoptosis, suggesting a role in inflammatory responses. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been described.
