Product Specific Information

The OX35 monoclonal antibody reacts with rat CD4. CD4 is a co-receptor participating in T cell receptor signaling by interacting with MHC class II on antigen-presenting cells (APC). It is expressed on CD4+CD8+ double-positive and CD4+ single-positive thymocytes, as well as CD4+ helper T cells in the periphery.
CD4 is a cell-surface glycoprotein with four extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains.

Target Information

CD4 antigen recognizes MHC class II molecules and serves as a co-receptor for HIV. It is primarily expressed on T helper cells, but also on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
At the tissue level, CD4 expression is found in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and specific brain and gut regions. CD4 plays a role in early T-cell activation via interaction with Lck kinase and may mediate neuronal damage in immune-related CNS diseases.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
