Product Specific Information
This antibody detects rat Lipocalin-2/NGAL in ELISAs and rat and mouse Lipocalin-2/NGAL in Western blots.
In sandwich ELISAs, less than 0.4% cross-reactivity with recombinant mouse Lipocalin-2/NGAL-2 is observed, and less than 0.2% cross-reactivity with recombinant human Lipocalin-1/NGAL-1 or Lipocalin-2/NGAL-2 is observed.
Reconstitute at 0.2 mg/mL in sterile PBS.
Target Information
NGAL (Neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, lipocalin 2, siderocalin, neutrophil lipocalin) is a 25 kDa glycosylated monomeric protein belonging to the lipocalin family. It binds and transports small lipophilic molecules and is released by activated neutrophils. NGAL can form dimers and complexes with matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9).
Expression is low in normal epithelia but increases during inflammation or cancer. In the kidney, NGAL expression rises dramatically after ischemic or nephrotoxic injury.
