The antibody detects endogenous levels of total IPO4 protein.
Target Information
Importin-4 is a protein encoded by the IPO4 gene in humans.
It functions as a nuclear transport receptor, mediating the import of proteins into the nucleus.
Importin-4 serves as a receptor for nuclear localization signals (NLS) in cargo substrates and facilitates docking of the importin/substrate complex to the nuclear pore complex (NPC).
Transport through the pore requires energy and is Ran-dependent.
At the nucleoplasmic side of the NPC, Ran binding leads to dissociation of the complex, and importin is re-exported to the cytoplasm where GTP hydrolysis releases Ran.
