히스톤은 전사 조절, DNA 복구, 복제 및 염색체 안정성 유지에 중심적인 역할을 합니다.
히스톤 H3의 N-말단 꼬리는 다양한 번역 후 변형(post-translational modification)을 거쳐 세포 내 과정에 영향을 미치며, 메틸화, 아세틸화, 세린 또는 트레오닌의 인산화 등이 포함됩니다.
