This antibody reacts with TRAIL-R3, a 35 kDa GPI-anchored extracellular membrane protein expressed mainly on neutrophils.
Target Information
TRAIL-R3 (CD263) is a member of the TNF-receptor superfamily. It contains an extracellular TRAIL-binding domain and a transmembrane domain but lacks a cytoplasmic death domain. Consequently, it does not induce apoptosis and functions as an antagonistic receptor that protects cells from TRAIL-induced apoptosis.
This gene is p53-regulated and DNA damage-inducible. Expression is found in many normal tissues but not in most cancer cell lines, which may explain the sensitivity of cancer cells to TRAIL-induced apoptosis.
