Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments, an additional desalting step is recommended (e.g., Zeba Spin Desalting Columns, 7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

Nucleocytoplasmic transport is a signal- and energy-dependent process occurring through nuclear pore complexes in the nuclear envelope.
Proteins containing nuclear localization signals (NLS) are imported via importin alpha/beta heterodimers (karyopherins). Importin alpha binds the NLS-containing cargo, while importin beta docks the complex at the cytoplasmic side of the pore.
In the presence of nucleoside triphosphates and Ran GTPase, the complex translocates into the nucleus, where importin subunits dissociate. Importin alpha delivers the cargo into the nucleoplasm, and importin beta remains at the pore.
Interactions between importin beta and FG repeats of nucleoporins are critical for translocation through the pore complex. The KPNB1 gene encodes a member of the importin beta family.
