Target Information
PRMT5 (protein arginine N-methyltransferase 5) is an arginine methyltransferase that catalyzes the formation of omega-N monomethylarginine (MMA) and symmetrical dimethylarginine (sDMA), preferring MMA formation.
PRMT5 mediates symmetrical dimethylation of arginine residues in small nuclear ribonucleoproteins Sm D1 and Sm D3, which is essential for snRNP core particle assembly and biogenesis.
