Target Information
Steroid, thyroid hormones, and retinoic acid regulate gene expression via intracellular receptor transcription factors of the ligand-dependent nuclear receptor superfamily. Coactivators and corepressors modulate transcriptional activity of these receptors.
Glucocorticoid receptor interacting protein-1 (GRIP1), also known as Transcription Intermediary Factor 2 (TIF2), is a member of the transcriptional coactivator family that includes SRC-1 and AIB-1. GRIP1 interacts with and enhances transcriptional activity of receptors for retinoic acid, retinoid X, vitamin D, mineralocorticoid, glucocorticoid, thyroid hormone, androgen, estrogen, progesterone, and PPARs.
It contains multiple LXXLL/LLXXL motifs critical for receptor–coactivator interactions.
