Product Specific Information

The XMG1.2 antibody reacts with mouse interferon (IFN) gamma and functions as a neutralizing antibody. Mouse IFN gamma is a 20 kDa cytokine produced by activated T, B, and NK cells, exhibiting antiviral and antiparasitic activity. It synergizes with TNF alpha to inhibit proliferation of normal and transformed cells and modulates immune responses across various cell types expressing IFN gamma receptors. Glycosylation does not affect its biological activity.

Applications Reported: Intracellular staining followed by flow cytometric analysis.
Applications Tested: Intracellular staining and flow cytometric analysis of stimulated mouse splenocytes, effective at ≤0.5 µg/test (in 100 µL final volume). Optimal titration recommended.

eFluor® 450 is an alternative to Pacific Blue®, excited at 405 nm and emits at 445 nm. Compatible with Violet laser detection systems.

Target Information

IFN gamma (Interferon gamma, Type II interferon) is a macrophage activation factor produced by T-lymphocytes and NK cells. It is a dimeric glycoprotein (~45 kDa) composed of two 146 amino acid subunits. IFN gamma exhibits species-specific biological activity, with human IFN gamma non-reactive to mouse. Functions include antiviral and antiproliferative activity, MHC induction, macrophage activation, and enhanced B-cell immunoglobulin secretion. It signals via the IFN gamma receptor I/II complex and activates the JAK-STAT pathway. Mutations in the IFN gamma gene are associated with aplastic anemia.
