• Suggested positive controls for IHC: human and rat pancreas
• Recommended dilutions:
  • 1:800–1:1500 using PAP
  • 1:300–1:500 using FITC (overnight incubation at 4°C)
• Reconstitution: Add 50–100 µL of distilled water, then dilute in 0.1M PBS with 1% BSA and 0.1% sodium azide.
• For long-term storage: aliquot and store at -20°C.

Target Information

Islet or insulinoma amyloid polypeptide (amylin) is commonly found in pancreatic islets of patients with type II diabetes mellitus or insulinoma. Although its association with diabetes has been known, a direct causative role remains unclear. Studies indicate that amylin, similar to beta-amyloid (Abeta) in Alzheimer’s disease, can induce apoptotic cell death in certain cultured cells, potentially contributing to type II diabetes development.
