CPEB4는 mRNA 3'-UTR 내 cytoplasmic polyadenylation element (CPE, 5'-UUUUUAU-3')에 결합하는 RNA 결합 단백질입니다 (PubMed:24990967).
RNA 결합 시 Venus fly trap 메커니즘과 유사한 형태 변화가 발생하며, ER 스트레스 적응 과정에서 CPE-조절 mRNA 번역을 유지하여 UPR 활성화를 조절합니다.
세포주기 진행(특히 cytokinesis와 염색체 분리)에 필수적이며, PLAT 번역을 양성 조절하여 종양 성장과 진행을 촉진합니다 (PubMed:22138752).
