Target Information
The anaphase-promoting complex (APC), also known as the cyclosome, is a large protein complex that promotes metaphase-anaphase transition by ubiquitinating specific substrates such as mitotic cyclins and anaphase inhibitors. These substrates are subsequently degraded by the 26S proteasome. The vertebrate APC contains eight subunits, and its composition is highly conserved from yeast to humans. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
