Target Information
Glucose transporter 2 (GLUT2) isoform is an integral plasma membrane glycoprotein expressed in the liver, pancreatic islet beta cells, intestine, and kidney epithelium. It mediates facilitated bidirectional glucose transport and functions as a glucose sensor due to its low glucose affinity. Mutations in the GLUT2 gene are associated with Fanconi-Bickel syndrome.
