CaMKK alpha는 nuclear factor of activated T cells (NFAT) DNA-binding transcription complex의 구성 요소로, TCR 자극 시 세포질 성분이 핵으로 이동하는 복합체를 형성합니다.
이 단백질은 면역 반응 중 유도성 유전자 전사에 중요한 역할을 하며, cyclosporin A 등의 면역억제제의 주요 분자 표적입니다.
CaMKK alpha는 5개의 transcript variants를 가지며, 서로 다른 isoform이 다양한 cytokine 유전자 발현을 조절할 수 있습니다.
