Product Specific Information
- Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
- For extended storage, aliquot contents and freeze at -20°C or below.
- Avoid cycles of freezing and thawing.
- Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
- Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid.
- Dilute only prior to immediate use.
This antibody is specific for bovine VEGF-A protein.
A BLAST analysis suggests cross-reactivity with VEGF-A from bovine, pig, sheep, and macaque (100% homology).
Partial reactivity is expected with human, horse, dog, cat, or guinea pig (95% homology), and rat or mouse (93% homology).
Cross-reactivity with other species has not been determined.
Target Information
Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) is a 45 kDa homodimeric, disulfide-linked glycoprotein involved in angiogenesis and tumor progression.
VEGF promotes endothelial cell viability, mitogenesis, chemotaxis, and vascular permeability.
The VEGF family includes VEGF-A, VEGF-B, VEGF-C, VEGF-D, VEGF-E, and PIGF.
VEGF signaling via receptors FLT1 (VEGFR-1) and FLK1/KDR (VEGFR-2) is essential for embryonic vasculature development.
Elevated VEGF levels are associated with POEMS syndrome (Crow-Fukase syndrome), affecting multiple organs.
