• Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
• For extended storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below.
• Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
• Centrifuge if not clear after standing at room temperature.
• Stable for several weeks at 4°C as undiluted liquid.
• Dilute only prior to immediate use.

This antibody is specific for swine IL-13 protein. BLAST analysis indicates:

• 100% homology with swine IL-13 (immunizing sequence)
• 89–90% homology with IL-13 from sheep, dolphin, beluga, and bovine
• 83–88% with human and certain monkey IL-13
• 80–82% with dusky titi, macaque, baboon, mangabey, dog, llama, camel, and galago
• 75–78% with horse
• 67–72% with rat, mouse, and gerbil

Cross-reactivity with IL-13 from other sources has not been determined.

Target Information

IL-13 is an immunoregulatory cytokine produced primarily by activated Th2 cells.
It regulates inflammatory and immune responses by down-regulating macrophage activity and inhibiting pro-inflammatory cytokine production.
IL-13 plays a role in allergen-induced asthma, B cell maturation and differentiation, up-regulates CD23 and MHC class II, and promotes IgE isotype switching.
Structurally, IL-13 resembles IL-3, IL-4, IL-5, and GM-CSF.
The IL-13 gene is located on chromosome 5q, close to IL4 within the cytokine gene cluster.
