MRPL23는 포유류 미토콘드리아 리보솜 단백질로, 핵 유전자에 의해 암호화되어 미토콘드리아 내 단백질 합성에 관여합니다. 미토리보솜은 28S 소단위체와 39S 대단위체로 구성되며, 단백질 대비 rRNA 비율이 프로카리오틱 리보솜과 반대입니다. MRPL23은 39S 단위체 구성 단백질을 암호화하며, 염색체 11의 각인 유전자 영역 내에서도 양대립유전자 발현을 보입니다.
