Target Information
Interleukin 6 receptor (IL6R), also known as CD126, is a type I cytokine receptor. It encodes a subunit of the IL6 receptor complex that regulates cell growth, differentiation, and immune response. The IL6 receptor forms a complex with IL6ST/GP130, shared by other cytokines. Dysregulated IL6/IL6R expression is linked to diseases such as multiple myeloma, autoimmune disorders, and prostate cancer. Alternative splicing generates distinct isoforms, and a pseudogene exists on chromosome 9.
