Mouse anti-Sheep CD45, clone VPM18 recognizes the ovine homologue of human CD45, also known as LCA (leucocyte common antigen). CD45 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein and member of the protein-tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, expressed at high levels on all nucleated cells of hematopoietic origin. It exists in several isoforms generated by alternative splicing.
Target Information
CD45 (LCA, leukocyte common antigen) is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) expressed ubiquitously in all nucleated hematopoietic cells, comprising approximately 10% of all surface proteins in lymphocytes. It is absent on non-hematopoietic cell lines and tissues. CD45 glycoprotein plays a crucial role in lymphocyte development and antigen signaling, regulating Src-family kinases and JAK kinases. It also modulates integrin-mediated signaling, apoptosis, and other immunological functions. Multiple isoforms exist due to alternative splicing, differing in extracellular domains but sharing identical transmembrane and cytoplasmic domains.
