This product is preservative-free. It is recommended to add sodium azide to avoid contamination (final concentration 0.05%–0.1%).

Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened for optimal production.

This antibody is specific for Mouse Syndecan-1/SDC1/CD138.

Target Information

CD138 (Syndecan-1) is a transmembrane proteoglycan that binds various cytokines and modulates their activity, as well as interactions with extracellular matrix components. It plays roles in developmental processes and is expressed mainly in differentiating keratinocytes. CD138 is upregulated upon tissue injury and highly expressed on plasma cells. It can also be found on fibroblasts, vascular smooth muscle cells, and endothelial cells. Changes in CD138 expression correlate with cancerous characteristics, and serum levels of soluble sCD138 serve as prognostic markers for cancerogenesis.
