이 항체는 특히 단순 상피(simple epithelia)를 염색합니다. 면역과산화효소 및 면역형광 실험에서는 동결 절편만 사용할 수 있습니다. 면역블롯 실험에서는 45 kDa의 keratin no.18만을 인식하는 것으로 확인되었습니다.
Target Information
Cytokeratin 18 (Keratin 18, KRT18, type I cytoskeletal 18)은 저분자량 산성 케라틴(type A) 계열에 속하며, Cytokeratin 8과 함께 존재합니다. 위장관, 호흡기, 비뇨생식기, 내분비 및 외분비 조직, 중피세포 등에서 발현됩니다. 주로 비편평상피(non-squamous epithelia)와 대부분의 선암(adenocarcinoma), 관암(ductal carcinoma)에서 발견되며, 편평세포암(squamous cell carcinoma)에서는 나타나지 않습니다. 간세포암에서는 Cytokeratin 8과 18만 발현합니다. KRT18 유전자의 변이는 cryptogenic cirrhosis와 관련이 있습니다. 이 유전자는 동일 단백질을 암호화하는 두 가지 전사 변이를 가지고 있습니다.
Cytokeratin 아형 발현 패턴은 다양한 상피성 악성종양의 구분에 점점 더 많이 활용되고 있습니다. Cytokeratin 항체는 면역조직화학적 진단뿐만 아니라 세포병리학 및 유세포분석(flow cytometry)에도 유용한 도구입니다.
