Product Specific Information
The eBioY1/82A antibody reacts with CD68, a sialomucin family protein closely related to lysosomal-associated membrane proteins (LAMPs) and scavenger receptors. CD68 is mainly intracellular, localized in late endosomal compartments, but also found on the surface of myeloid-derived cells such as monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and subsets of CD34+ progenitor cells.
Staining with eBioY1/82A shows surface staining on B cells and a minor fraction of monocytes, while intracellular staining detects CD68 in about 50% of B cells and most monocytes.
Applications Reported: Flow cytometric analysis
Applications Tested: Intracellular staining and flow cytometry of normal human peripheral blood cells. Recommended usage: 5 µL (0.125 µg) per test in 100 µL final volume.

Target Information
CD68 (Macrosialin) is a 110 kDa integral membrane glycoprotein mainly expressed in lysosomes of monocytes and macrophages, with lower expression in dendritic cells and granulocytes. It plays roles in phagocytic activity, lysosomal metabolism, and cell-pathogen interactions. CD68 expression is also noted in interdigitating reticulum cells, histiocytic lymphomas, AML, and granulocytic sarcoma. Elevated CD68 levels have been observed in CD34+ cells in several human malignancies.
