Target Information
CD79a is a disulphide-linked heterodimer that includes the B29 (CD79b) polypeptide. It is a B lymphocyte antigen receptor with an antigen-specific surface component (immunoglobulin) that associates with Ig-alpha and Ig-beta, essential for B-cell antigen receptor expression and function.
CD79a appears at the pre-B cell stage and persists until the plasma cell stage, where it is found intracellularly. It is expressed in most precursor B cell acute leukemias, B cell lines, B cell lymphomas, and some myelomas, but not in myeloid or T cell lines.
Diseases associated with CD79a include Agammaglobulinemia 3 and Agammaglobulinemia, Non-Bruton type.
