Target Information
TRPV3 belongs to a family of nonselective cation channels involved in processes such as temperature sensation and vasoregulation. Thermosensitive members of this family are expressed in subsets of sensory neurons terminating in the skin and are activated at distinct physiological temperatures (22–40°C). The TRPV3 gene lies near TRPV1 on chromosome 17, and both proteins may form heteromeric channels.
