Target Information
The DOK7 protein is essential for neuromuscular synaptogenesis. It facilitates aneural activation of muscle-specific receptor kinase required for postsynaptic differentiation and clustering of acetylcholine receptors in myotubes. DOK7 also induces autophosphorylation of muscle-specific receptor kinase. Mutations in DOK7 cause familial limb-girdle myasthenia autosomal recessive (congenital myasthenic syndrome type 1B). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
