Target Information
Mouse DcTRAILR1 and DcTRAILR2 (decoy TRAIL receptors 1 and 2) are receptors for TRAIL according to ligand-receptor binding assays (Schneider et al., 2001). However, overexpression does not cause NF-κB activation or apoptosis, as would be expected of a TRAIL receptor. These receptors are therefore referred to as decoys.
Cells expressing decoy TRAIL receptors at high levels relative to actual TRAIL receptors may use them as protection against the cytotoxic action of TRAIL (Bouralexis et al., 2005). Further analysis of these murine TRAIL decoy receptors will aid in understanding the complex biology underlying TRAIL ligand/receptor interactions.
