CEA Cell Adhesion Molecule 6 (CEACAM6) is a member of the carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) family, consisting of GPI-anchored cell surface glycoproteins. These molecules are involved in cell adhesion and are widely used as tumor markers in serum immunoassay determinations of carcinoma. CEACAM6 influences tumor cell sensitivity to adenovirus infection and serves as a receptor for adherent-invasive E. coli adhesion to ileal epithelial cells in Crohn’s disease.
