Product Specific Information
- IHC (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- Formalin-fixed tissues: Heat sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
Cellular uptake of iron occurs via receptor-mediated endocytosis of ligand-occupied transferrin receptor into specialized endosomes.
Endosomal acidification leads to iron release, and the apotransferrin-receptor complex is recycled to the cell surface.
Transferrin receptor is essential for erythrocyte and nervous system development.
Serum transferrin receptor (sTfR) is used to detect erythropoietin (EPO) misuse and diagnose various anemias related to rheumatoid arthritis, pregnancy, IBS, and HIV.
