Target Information
Dual specificity phosphatases (DUSPs) inactivate their target kinases by dephosphorylating both phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues.
DUSPs are divided into six subgroups based on sequence similarity: PRLs, Cdc14 phosphatases, PTENs, myotubularins, MKPs, and atypical DUSPs.
DUSP inhibitors may manipulate MAPK and cellular responses in both positive and negative ways.
DUSP family members regulate MAPK intensity and duration to determine physiological responses.
DUSP12 (YVH1, GKAP) contains a consensus DUSP catalytic domain and an extended C-terminal domain of unknown function, possibly related to glucokinase regulation. It is localized in the cytoplasm and nucleus.
