Target Information
This gene encodes an activating transcription factor belonging to the ATF subfamily and bZIP family. It regulates expression of downstream genes involved in growth, survival, and other cellular activities.
Phosphorylation at serine 63 by various kinases enhances its transactivation and transcriptional activities, promoting cell transformation.
Chromosomal translocation with FUS (chromosome 16) or EWSR1 (chromosome 22) generates chimeric proteins found in angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma and clear cell sarcoma.
A pseudogene is located on chromosome 6.
