Reactivity occurs against human p47 ING3 protein. This sequence shows homology only to isoform 1 of ING3 and not to isoforms 2 or 3. 100% homology is recorded for human, dog, rat, chimpanzee, and orangutan. Cross-reactivity with mouse and chicken p47 ING3 is expected based on BLAST analysis (one amino acid difference). Reactivity with other species is unknown.
Target Information
The ING3 gene encodes a protein similar to ING1, a tumor suppressor interacting with TP53, inhibiting cell growth, and inducing apoptosis. It contains a PHD-finger motif associated with chromatin remodeling. ING3 activates p53-dependent promoters such as p21/waf1 and bax. Overexpression inhibits cell growth and induces apoptosis. Allelic loss and reduced expression are observed in head and neck cancers. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
