Target Information
The FADD (Fas-Associated protein with Death Domain) protein is an adaptor molecule that mediates apoptotic signals from various cell surface receptors. Through its C-terminal death domain, it interacts with TNFRSF6/Fas receptor, TNFRSF25, and TNFSF10/TRAIL receptor, initiating death signaling. This interaction exposes the N-terminal effector domain, enabling recruitment of caspase-8 and activation of the cysteine protease cascade. Knockout studies in mice highlight its essential role in early T cell development.
